Need Help ASAP

her breathing has gotton bad again, shes panting, and i can hear the gurgling,i dont think shes going to pull through.

Teebo - why are you "emptying her crop" and exactly how do you do that anyway. Is this something you've done often or had a need to do? Did a vet or someone show you how to do it or advise it be done? Just curious. Then you said you might have to "open the crop and take the crap out manually?" What are you talking about - home surgery? I'm sorry but I'm totally lost.

Does she have grit? And if so, I would try the olive oil like silkiechicken suggested.

I don't think it's as bothersome to have a full crop as is to empty it... impaction or not. Do you throw up when you're constipated or do you take a stool softener which in the chicken world= olive oil... JMO.
Good luck with her anyhow.

sometimes you can hold them upside down and massage the crop. sounds like maybe she has an impacted gizzard, get some tomato juice in her, this will empty her out. use a syringe with a iv line attached to it, do not put it down her windpipe, if you can't find iv tubing, find a lawnmower shop and get a short peice of chainsaw fuel line.
once she empties soak her mash or pellets in buttermilk or ensure plus and feed for a week. no grains. if this is impacted gizzard she should be fine within a week

i have done it before with one of my hens a yaer ago,and she pulled trhrough, this hen i think is on her way out, shes not even drinking now.

Well I just read your post through and I know how you feel. I have been doctoring a rooster for about a week and a half. He all of a sudden couldn't walk. I did all I know and got some advice here. Everyone is very helpful at this site and the old site. I just posted again about my rooster. When I went out to check him again as much as I hated it I knew I couldn't let him suffer anymore. Between the heat and to top it off the flies just started at him. I asked my husband to put him down. I hate it but know it was the right thing. It seems to me you did all you could also and I guess we just have to find peace in that. Sorry about your chicken. Donna

donna, thank you so much...you have made me feel so much better..i have 10 chickens and she was the prettiest and best hen that i have ever owned, thats why i feel so bad,i tryed everything laid in bed at night trying to think what i could do for her, rather then suffer i felt it was time to stop her suffering.im sorry to hear about your roo.god bless you.
