hey guys I wanted to make black stars this spring because I like how you can sex them as chicks very easily and I have 2 bared rocks and 1 Rhode Island red Rooster. but neither of my barred rock hens are broody! when i go to take any of my other hens eggs they are broody because they puff up their feathers and make the large screaming sound and peck me but when I take one of my barred rocks eggs they just stand up for me so i can take the egg!? Can I even make them broody or will I have to get a incubator?

If you already have hens going broody why don't you just put the eggs under them that you want hatched? They won't know the difference or do they already have eggs?

The only way I have known to help a hen to go broody is to leave her with the eggs, then after she has a clutch of eggs, if she will go broody it will happen. However, you can't force it. Some will never go broody.
