Today i bought 6 chicks labeled Cornish meat birds with the intention to eat....mainly because they were only a dollar...Anyway I was wondering when I need to start taking their food away at night and about when they should be ready to slaughter...any advice would be very helpful...Ohh and I doubt they're over a week old..Thanks!!!

Well, how old are they? Mine are outside in a movable tractor at 3 weeks old. They are all free ranging with 12 hrs of non-medicated chick starter.

We usually start taking feed away when they're about 2-3 weeks old, BUT I've often read to do so around a week old. I'm scared of the morning stampede, so when the light goes off at night is usually when they start taking their time off from eating! LOL We process at 6 or 7 weeks and they dress out anywhere from 4 lbs. to 8 lbs. Good luck!
