12 eggs in still air incubator, at day 23 4 eggs hatched, chicks doing well. Day 24 one egg moving and chirping but no piping. Day 25 no movement or chirping, tapped on egg a couple times throughout day and no chirping or pecking heard. What should I do? Is chick dead, should I pip the egg? Other 7 eggs show no movement or sounds. Did warm water test on day 22 only one egg floated, but then 4 hatched so water test didnt help me. Candling is hard as loss of some vision due to stroke, I cant see well enough to make out any distinct signs.
I dont know what to do, how long should I leave eggs in incubator?
Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would open up the air cells to see if any are still alive, but I don't know if that is the recommended thing rounding not. I just did this, and if the four eggs I opened, one was still alive, and needed assistance hatching. It is now as healthy as the chicks that hatched a day earlier on their own. There is a good article on assisted hatching: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/step-by-step-guide-to-assisted-hatching.64660/

Thanks for ur response. How do u open air cells and where are they located?

The air cells should be on the fat end of the egg. If the eggs were shipped they may get misplaced. You can see where they are by candling. Have you candled at all during the incubation? If you did, you may have noticed what kind of looks like a bubble in the egg. That is the air cell. You would gently chip open a tiny hole over the bubble, and remove a bit of shell away from the hole a little at a time until you can either see movement of the chick within the inner membrane, or palpate it slightly to see if it moves. If you need to see through the inner membrane, you can moisten it with a bit of water. More detailed instructions are in that link I posted!

Thanks I will give it a try. I have candled but I have vision loss due to stroke so I have issue not being able to see details. The eggs were layed here and not shipped. Thanks again
