You could go "back to the basics";I got 50 day olds today. Have already lost 7.
they have feed, water, temp is good. they just keep dying.
They are in a wooden crate with stall dry and shavings (not cedar) feed is ground to a fine powder. they seem to be drinking water fine.
- use some paper towels; you may need to change them several times a day.
- The shavings could be a problem; some natural oils of sorts that may be giving the birds respiratory issues.
- That dimmer that I linked in my previous post could be found in Lowes' lighting department. sure beats trying to adjust the lamp from 95 - 90 degrees next week (you may have to take the "shroud" off of the lamp, so becareful not to burn yourself when you are changing the water).
- plain tap water.
- make sure there is plenty of shaded areas for the chicks to move to if they get too hot (2Crows may have covered this).
I'm all out of ideas; I still feel like doo doo for not mentioning the water earlier.
