Need help deciding what to do with a baby chick with skeletal issues

just let the little guy, or gal live, if it gets worse or sick well then you at least tried to give him a chance

Give little one a chance! If he begins to fail to thrive or is suffering then do what is best, but at least give him a chance. Ya never know.

Considering the quail baby (older than your chick) that I had recover, I'd sure give it a chance.

This one had her neck in a wacky position (tipped forward under her belly), was hyper, running into stuff, and then would lose balance & flail.

Treatment was electrolytes (Pedialyte, unflavored) with bird vitamins added, scrambled eggs (as much as it could eat) and the highest protein food available to me. I changed out the fluids & eggs at least 2x's a day to keep them fresh.

I had figured the chick would be dead by morning. It's a normal adult now.

Its packed with nutrition. You just add water and feed it to them. I use this on my sick adults as well and they love it

Also, the improvement was gradual. It took 3-4 days of treatment before it really took effect. Then, it took about 2-3 weeks before I realized that the very last neck curl was gone.

She's still a bit of a spaz bird but so are her siblings. That's just button quail for ya!

This is a personal decision with no right or wrong answer. I'd say with your feelings about the chick you should try the treatments on here.

I once culled a kitten and then wished I hadn't.

I would try those treatments and give it a chance. I had a cat get hit by a car broken leg and blood in pee. put her in a kennel overnight to see what she did. in the morning she wanted to eat. after a couple days the blood in urine cleared up and 3 weeks in the kennel with limited movement the leg was healed and she is a happy kitty in the barn catching mice. I would give it a chance. But I am a softy and a whimp:/

mort is hanging out with my boy while he plays videogames right now i took some pictures this morning so you all could see how much worse his leg has gotten.. He really cant walk at all anymore really but he can manage to stumble to his food/water and stuff and he doesn't seem to be in pain.

is it possible to break and reset bones in a bird? can vets do this? what about if i asked my friends at the wild bird rescue center?

i'm going to try the treatments you all have suggested. thanks so much for your help
