I have a bantam d'Uccle chick that is approximately 4 weeks old. I realize I might have to wait a week or three, but I have a feeling that it might be a cockerel (crossing fingers for a pullet, though!):
Here is a side view of same chick, with flash:
My second chick was SUPPOSED to be a Cuckoo Marans, but base on the lack of leg feathers, in addition to a rose comb, I think it's a Dominique. Because it was an older chick when I received it, I was unable to determine it's sex, based on sex-link characteristics. I'm unfamiliar with the Dominique breed (one site says females have uniformly dark yellow legs, whereas another states that males have the darker legs. It's comb is still rather small, which makes me think pullet, but if male legs are uniformly dark yellow, then perhaps it's a cockerel. It does like to chest bump the other chicks, but I've had pullets exhibit this behavior before, so I'm at a loss:
And an upclose of the legs (PS: are the single bumps on the inside of each leg developing spurs? I've never had a cockerel develop spurs this early, then again, I've never really paid attention to chicken legs, other than trimming spurs, checking for mites, or checking for bumblefoot):
Thanks in advance for any replies!
