Need Help Determining What to Feed My Coturnix Quail

Hi, I am going to be getting Coturnix Quail soon and I don't know what to feed them. I have heard that some people use chicken feed with no problems and others that add things to their chicken feed to increase protein. The main reason I'm getting Coturnix quail is egg laying. So, what do you use? Thanks!!!

It is really hard to add enough protein to chicken feed for use on quail. Especially if you are in it for eggs. Egg production requires very high protein levels in the feed, as an egg is all protein. If you don't give them enough protein, the egg output will be low. 22% to 28% protein is the recommended amount of protein. I use a 26% gamebird feed with lots of fruits, veggies and a small pile of a seed mix on the side for their enjoyment and mental stimulation.
