By "they", do you mean the human? If so, it might be less confusing (to me, lol) to ask something like "did this duckling pip on it's own, or did you make the hole?".Or they piped it themselves?

The human...I meant...By "they", do you mean the human? If so, it might be less confusing (to me, lol) to ask something like "did this duckling pip on it's own, or did you make the hole?".
I just checked and it is moving a little and making some noise.does look a bit low, but depending on the air cell drawdown, it might have hit the edge?
I'd try to be patient and see if it can zip on its own. @Mykidsloveducks Is the duckling making noise regularly, or any kind of movements now?
So the duck made the hole on its own. When I noticed the hole (It was on the bottom side of the egg), I moved the egg and it was stuck to the hatching mat because of the goo that came out of the egg. I don't think it pipped through the air sac. It appears as if it went through the shell just below the air-sac. I can't tell if the nares are free and clear of goo.
Do I just put the Vaseline around the hole or on other parts of the egg?Keep waiting...If the shell is browning you can lube around the edges with Vaseline...
Thanks for the advice. Do I just use a dry q-tip?Check it to make sure the nares are clear of the goo... if the goo covers the nares and it gets just slightly dry, that stuff hardens up like gorilla glue and *could* suffocate the duckling... use a qtip to clear the goo out from around the nares, then wait... it may hatch on it's own fine, or may need assistance later...
