NEED HELP EMDEN GOSLING HATCH

Hi all

what has gone on here ?

the yolk has been nearly absorbed but the umbical cord looks really big - is it infected ?

he has absorbed a lot of it’s yolk since yesterday

full of Energy moving around alot

please advise

Looks like it’s navel did not close. It is hard to tell. Be careful of it jerking around because it can pull everything out of itself.

Is it attached to the shell?

@CluckNDoodle has a lot of experience hatching goslings and can further assist you.

very true - I haven’t moved it at all and yes still attached to the shell
 
It doesn't look too bad from what I can see. You don't see any yolk sac protruding right? I bet in an hour or so the navel will finish closing. Congrats on the cute baby!

ahhh thank god im so stressed
no it’s absorbed 99% of its yolk yesterday and this morning
does it not look infected ? First time hatching geese

Ok, I can see a bit better in these images. It does still look like there's some absorbing left for the gosling to do but it is normal for their abdomen to be a little distended from absorbing the yolk sac. It's not very noticable once they fluff up and it goes down in a couple days.

All you can do at the moment is give it time. Keep us updated!
