My husband and I live in Eugene Oregon. We will be in the UK for two weeks over the holidays visiting my husband's family. We are at a loss as to what to do with our three 8 month old girls (one bard rock and 2 rhode island reds). We have tried to find people to care for them at the house but everyone seems to be going out of town as well. Is there anyone in the area who would be willing to take them in for two weeks (has a set up that will allow them to do this?) I know it is a strange request but we don't know what else to do!

If we lived nearby we would do it! I hope you find someone. I know how it is to find someone to care for your fuzzy kids.

If you are absolutely desperate, then you could leave them with me. But I live near Salem, so that's a long drive for you. Plus, my chickens would teach yours how to be wild farm chickens.[IMG]

Have you tried posting an ad on craigslist for a pet-sitter, or look up postings by people who do that for a living. Also, check the bulletin board of the feed store where you get your supplies, or a nearby independent pet store for pet sitting services.
I'm lucky- my neighbor loves the chickens. Good luck!

Hi there, I live in Newberg, Ore about 2 hours north. However, I might suggest you check out the chickenswap page for back in the first part of Oct. A number of folks in that area got together in Albany for a chk swap. Also check your local craigslist for pet sitters. I am sure you will get a reply! WOW, the Uk for Christmas, Nice!
