I would have to say ...if using the ''recipe''..consider the neighbors pets....an innocent little pup that the little girl nextdoor loves, or an old lady who has an old companion dog for years....You could break someones heart with the loss of an innocent pet with that poison idea.
I am just thinkin like a dog lover......we considered poison as well...when we lost our first flock to coons...but dont have the heart to accidently kill a beloved pet by mistake. Just something to consider when using poison.

This is an old thread but still pertinent. Coyotes are very hard to catch. I have put traps out for them but they never took the bait. I had one bird that was killed which I put in a trap as bait. The coyote managed to get a grip on a leg that stuck out of the trap and actually dragged the trap. It even tried to dig under the trap but wouldn't go in. The best defense is to contain the birds in an area with electric wires with a good powerful charger. Here is a website for people who like to free range. I don't free range anymore due to losses from predators but my birds have large pens and are well protected. Good luck...
