Need help, Feed sold now that was made in June ??!!!

So I was about to buy some Organic feed and asked the Mill Date. They said June.
I said NO THANK YOU! But they said they just got a new shipment in that morning. Said SAME MILL DATE ???!!!

What? Why would Blue Seal, who has a Mill in NH/VT and this store is in NH send OLD FEED??

Is this normal ?

Also, does ANYONE know if Green Mountain uses the "day of the year" as their LOT# ??
I got it last week and the hens refuse to eat it and I think are thinner !!

IIRC, in my feed bags, the mill date for feed manufactured today would be 2837. This corresponds to the 283rd day of the year 2017. If they gave you a bag from a new shipment, and it was June, I'd take it back and go elsewhere. I have stopped doing business at a very popular box feed store b/c the feed there was always old, or they never had the formulation I wanted in stock.

I urge all customers to become familiar with the dating system on all food items including animal and people feed. If customers continue to accept crap at the feed store, that is what will continue to be supplied.

Actually the manager is VERY good. I was emailing him because I wanted to know what feed he had before I drove that far to get it.
When he found out I was up there yesterday he emailed me trying to find out how GM dated their bags.
I am sure he will go right by me if the bag of GM I got was old.

But GM is closed so I thought someone here might know about their dates. They only have a 4 digit Lot #

Call them and ask. This is very sleazy, but it's is common.

Agreed, I would bypass the store, and go right to the corporate level.
