I think they're both clean-legged--pretty sure I recognise the breed.
#1 is a male Old English Game Bantam
#2 is a female Old English Game bantam
That's not a 100% guarantee, but that chipmunk colouration is most common in OEGBs. If they are OEGBs, they're autosexing, and the lighter, greyer one is a male. The darker one with longer eyestripes is female.
You're right--I was only looking at colouration, not the size. I suppose she could be a Welsummer or an EE, or an OEG. Or just a large chick--I've seen that happen too.Do you think the second is also a bantam, just older? I was thinking a female OEGB until I noticed the difference in size with the person's hand.

Welsummers are autosexing, but EEs are so mixed that they don't know up from down anymore and are not autosexing.Out of curiosity, are the Welsummers and EEs also autosexing in the same way that OEGBs are? I would assume the full-sized OEGs would be.
Aren't we all?Good to know, thank you! I'm discovering all the ins and outs as I go along.![]()
