Need help finding DE for fly control

If you live in the east in some states, Custom Milling has reps all over, plus in Ohio, I think. I just tonight found a rep in my area after always having to drive an hour and paying $10 more than I paid tonight for it. Here is their link-in the site, is a listing of the states and their reps in each state. Maybe there's one near you. They sell the Permagard Food Grade DE. It must say on the bag "Food Chemical Codex Grade" or it isn't suitable to use the way we chicken people need to use it. I dust my birds with it, put it in feed, put it in their shavings, under the straw in the nestboxes, etc:

I called 2 feed stores in my area and the first one said he's never heard of it, so I explained and asked if he could ask the supplier about it and he said sure. Not sure if he would or not, I called another place.

This guy said he knew exactly what I was talking about and hasn't had any in awhile but he'd be happy to order me a 50# bag.

He's going to call me when it's in. He didn't know a price, but I couldn't bear paying the shipping from ordering online.

Speckledhen I could kiss you I checked out the link and found a dealer 35 miles from me. Thank you I just received my DE yesterday after waiting 16 days to ship Now I can get it locally Thanks again Micki

Micki, you are so welcome! I know exactly how you feel. With the price of gasoline, I sure was dreading having to drive over an hour and then pay $34 or so for the DE(I just ran out of my second bag in over a year) and now I have a rep in my local area about 20 miles from me. The DE I got from him was only $24 for 50 lbs and it's a wonderful name brand, so I'm a happy camper myself.
ChixW, I don't know that brand or that additive they put in it so I really cant comment on it.

Not sure where to post this. Just saw this weeks special online at McMurray:
PoultryGuard Dusting Powder is a 5 # sack that will last a long time. Shipping is included at a price of about $28.

More hugs for you SpeckledHen!!!

There's a dealer in Waycross!!! That's about 50 miles from us; we consider anything under 30 miles a hop & a skip, so this is not bad at all!

Just had to register so I could post an idea for you all -- I'm on the West Coast and here you can readily get DE, food grade, from the feed stores. I just paid $20 for 50 pounds so I'd call around to the feed stores (under "feed stores" in the phone book -- at least out here). Ask for Perma-Guard food grade.

That's the first place most of us looked. Most have never heard of the stuff and then if they have, they don't know there is any kind called "food grade". I tried four or five feedstores and none had it. NONE. They even supposedly tried to find it for me and couldn't. I sure wish it was that easy around here.
