Need help handling Summer Broody

i broke my Australorp from broodiness by dunking her butt in my duck pool every day for a couple days. Now my Maran is broody but i'm on day 3 and she's finally staying off the nest

My nest box is way cooler than the rest of the coop. By chance, without thinking, I ended up placing it on the side that never really get much sun.
I had also put a 1/2 bale of hay that got wet on top of it. The only reason was because I ment to throw it out, but never got around to it. It seems to be insulating it from the heat.
When my hen went broody, every time I'd visit to check the eggs, I'd offer her water.
She'd calmly let me handle the eggs, and then drink up all the water I could give her.

This is Matilda, my super sweet broody:

I can't think of anything cuter than a broody and her chicks. They are just so sweet with them. My little Lilly had a bunch last year and she was the cutest thing. She wasn't a nasty moody broody like some of my girls, she would let me stick treats in for her and she'd eat them up and would eat anything I put in the nest for her.

Then when I ordered new chicks this year I put them in the coop next to hers and their light went out, she broke into their coop (not hard to do from hers) and kept those kid warm until I found the light problem.

Little Lilly has earned a place for life here.

We tried luring/bribing our broody hen out of the nestingbox/coop with treats, but that's not working. So this morning I dunked her bottom in the water and we'll try that again tomorrow and Monday. Hoping for a change. She's not letting our other hen into the nesting box without a fight, so it's a real pain.

Alas, we don't have a dog cage or anything large enough to keep her in. What we have done, though, is lock the hens out of the coop for a few hours at a time. During those times, Mohawk (broody one) doesn't really act all that differently. She does seem a little less active than the other two, but she still does chicken-y stuff.

I hope I have better news to report tomorrow or Monday!

Happy 4th, folks!
