Need Help Identifying a Silkie's Gender

I have a hatchery black silkie who I assumed was a male lowest on the pecking order because I never heard him crow....then one day he laid an egg :0) now SHE lays almost every day and is sitting on 3. I think sometimes its easier to tell from a breeder stock...the heads are more pronounced which is how I could tell my others and I was correct in those.

I had a buff silkie I got at 6 weeks old hoping it was a girl. He just started crowing one day lol. But I noticed as he got older his pointed hackle feathers and saddle feathers. He also had a more pronounced comb... even though they have the walnut comb i could tell it was a little big. So thats how I tell now... i pick the silkie chicks with the smallest, flattest combs. Good luck!
