ok so im chick sitting for some people. a mother hen and 6 chicks and some eggs that havent hatched. we decided they wernt going to hatch. the oldest chick is older that a week. so we stoped "making" her sit on the eggs. a while ago i went to check the chicks and one of the eggs was in the middle of the pen and kinda cracked open, wing and part of the head was out. all the other chicks was pecking it and mom was ignoring it. the othr chicks had pecked off part of its beak. it was realy week cuz it had been cold 4 a while, there was more blood than there should be. i got it and kept it warm in my hand my dad picked most of the shell away and its still attatched to the bottem of the egg by its but and is peeping sometimes. im freeaking out. its prettly bloody but doesnt look like its in pain. its but look like its still attached to some yolk. i am holding it to keep it warm and another chick so it can here peeping an stuff. it definetly wasnt ready 2 hatch, the other ones got it open i think. i realy want to save it plz help wut do i do????

I would wrap it in a towel with the blood it sounds like it was not ready to hatch it needs time to absorb the yolk. I would put a damp towel and around it and keep it warm let rest and absorb the yolk and let it work it way of the shell itself. I hope someone with hatching experience will post.

it needs a heat lamp...at least 95 degrees. The moist cloth will keep the membrane from drying out but will chill the chick fast if you don't get a heat source.

im holding him till his heat pad warms up. hes doing well, still alive. he peeps from time to time. sleeps mostly. thx so much to everyone!

just remember it will have to absorb the rest of the yolk so don't let it dry out. but don't chill the chick. please let us know how it all comes out. thanks.
