My son's father brought his piece of garbage 68 T-Bird he bought while we were still married, out here and gave it to Steven to sell for parts. There is no title. He got in trouble for having the broke down thing in his driveway at his trailer park in El Paso, so the other weekend I was in Silver City he brought it out here,, He told Steven he could make a lot of money parting it out,, I don't think so. What I need is suggestion on what to ask for the doors, the fenders, etc,, the engine is seized on it, the tires are garbage, the interior is usable, most of it anyway.

Please don't move this to auctions, I'm not trying to sell it on here, just get an idea of what my son should ask for pieces of it.

I think my parents did something like that with an old car, but they sold the whole car to someone who had one of those cars. They didn't try to disassemble it and sell the individual parts themselves.

I listed it on the El Paso Craigslist as parts $50 and up just to see if I get any bites. I'd sell it as one big part, but his dad has convinced him that he'll get more parting it out. I just don't want a messy corpse all over my back area.

Post it in Ebay motors- a lot of people who are into restoring old cars go there to buy cars like this
to 'canabalize' for parts. You can do an advanced search over there for the make and model
and look under 'completed auctions' to get an idea of how much similar cars have sold for.
Good luck!

We sold two 68 mercury somethings and a 71 Plymouth gran fury something for $25, $150, and $300 whole for parts to rebuilders 3-5 years ago. They were each titled, we were original owners, two ran, but had each one was hauled away on flat beds anyways. Then we ended up selling a dent less 71 chevy which just had some engine misfiring for $800 to a truck shop who drove 3 hours to come and get it. These all happened in the greater seattle area which is pretty populated with people. Not sure what the market looks like where you are, but the hardest part about re homing these old vehicles here was finding people interested. We sold them whole as it just wasn't worth the cost of paying a junk yard to take away non whole cars as most would only take whole cars for free. I looked up refurbished cars and went from there. More popular ones I started the listing higher. Started the truck at 1k, and the cars at 500.

I would try and sell the whole car, especially if you don't know what the parts are worth. You could have someone come out and take a part for $50 that would cost him $300 anywhere else.
