Need help incubating egg

It's preferable to turn them at least once a day on the counter to keep the yolk from sticking to the shell. They should either be stored on their sides or pointy side facing down.
It gets really confusing for new chicken keepers to understand the stages that developing eggs go through. At the storage stage I don’t think they need to be turned as the development is halted. The eggs do need to be turned when they are incubated up until the lockdown stage.

Most people do turn or tilt their eggs during storage to keep the yolk from sticking to the shell. If the eggs were being hatched by a broody hen, they would be jostled around as she lays more eggs in her nest.

Although you have got the advice I would have gave I want to add that not all eggs will be fertile even though you saw them mate
I incubate tons and no way in the same day you start should you see veins
My thoughts are it could actually be cooking the egg being to hot ?
Or something else is going on
I know you are very excited but take a deep breath and get properly set up to incubate
Then you won’t have issues further into the incubation of loosing eggs from off temps or humidity issues
Like others have said you can store eggs for 14 days I have even gone 21 and hatched babies but it’s recommended not past 14 as they loose the fertility
I also never incubate right after it’s laid. I like to give my eggs a day to settle ( that’s a personal preference)
Good luck and I hope you get some babies soon
Thank you. I wasn’t sure if this egg would be fertile or not, but i figured it was worth a shot.

I ended up tossing the eggs and i have 3 more im going to keep on my counter til i get a good sized batch.

I have only seen my rooster mating one of them laying eggs, the others i don’t think let him, but then again, im not out there with them all day either, so maybe he has mated them.

Would it be worth putting the eggs being laid from the chickens i don’t think are getting mated in there too?

It won’t hurt to try
By day 7-10 you will know if they are fertile or not. At that point you can toss any that haven’t started
If you aren’t sure you can post pictures of candling the eggs and post them and we can all help you
I’m glad you are waiting for the bator

A good thermometer and hygrometer are indispensable. I used this one, which many people recommended.

Thank you everyone for all the advice! If anyone has incubators they like please let me know the brand, theres so many options im not to sure what one i should buy.

I use a Janoel, which the cheapest fan forced one I could get.
It works ok, the temp did seem a bit unstable, including one hot spike that I wasn't happy about.
I did hatch out 7 chicks from 12 shipped eggs though, and that was my first time using an incubator.
So the verdict is, its ok, but if I were buying again I would spend a bit more.

I need some help, you all have hatched much more eggs then me (and i don’t currently own a incubator, the old one is gone) so i need to decide.

Obviously ones like Nurture right are amazing, but i don’t hatch that many eggs, it seems wasteful to me to spend that much when i really just plan on hatching maybe 5.

Im looking for something maybe in the $60 range? I have been looking for a while and picked some out that i thought looked nice, but looking for a more expert opinion on it. What one (if any) do you think i should get?
