My silkie is laying her first egg and it's either stuck or is covered by a membrane. I don't see the opening to guide it out right. What do I do?

Wash your hands, wash the membrane with the egg in it and carefully push it all back - up- in.

She has prolapse... egg got stuck and didn't come out... try and use olive oil with Q-tips to lubricate it all once you have it back in place...poop comes from below, eggs from above.

Many times prolapse doesn't resolve. I'm certain that there are folks on here with much more experience than me that will respond.

Good luck and God bless.

ouch poor hunny-calm down a little and grab some olive oil-vegetable oil and massage INSIDE where the egg is protruding-hard to explain--ok think of us having babies and how the doctor massages just the outside of our hoo-haa's trying to stretch it for us so its easier to SLIDE out the baby-thats what you need to do-only if you can see the egg-not if its still inside her-shes prolapsing her insides are coming out-it cam be fixed-you may need to break the egg-im sorry inside her to relieve pressure-she needs to be seperated out and in a quit warm place too-it will take a few days to heal and get back to normal---I hope I helped a tiny bit-more experienced people will come soon Im sure keep us posted-good luck

I have also read here that using preparation H to reduce the swelling can also help shrink the tissue to get it back in there.
I also know that breaking the egg is really not a great idea. The broken shell pieces would be impossible to remove and could cause infection.
Poor little silkie.

awesome-might not be a bad idea to put her in a warm bath while trying to push it back in-relaxing her a little more-

I pushed it back in, but she pushed it right back out. The egg is out but surrounded by her tissues. I can't see the opening to get it out the right way.

did you try and give her a warm bath to sit in to push it in again-? she might have alot of pressure built up-trying to push it out-that she cant help but to force it back out but a warm bath will realx her and her muscles a little-poor baby
