need help now! graphic!

Cute girl!

She'll have to be lonely for a little longer. When it scabs all over, apply Blu-Kote, so the others won't peck at her.

I see you have her in a cage. What I do for water is I use a small/medium measuring cup and hang it from the side.

Keep us updated! Take a pic of the wound if possible.

get a rabbit water drippy thing. I hear a lot of people use those. Maybe she would like a day outside with you? Take her out and let her get some bugs? Just you two?

I am so happy for you!! I am so glad she is healing. All we can do is do our best to give them tender love and care! Some will make it and some won't but we have to try our best!! Congrats she looks happy!!

poor little thing , sure hope she continues to do well! have you ever heard of Bach Rescue remedy?? can use it on anything including yourself, it works great for calming down /terror and shock etc etc, I keep it on hand for emergencies-might keep her perked up ... or be handy if it should ever(hope not) happen again .. you can take it your self as well... I use it on horses too

I know that it isn't easy to do but this bird should be culled - remember you may be making a decision based on your feelings and not on the chicken's - sorry -

I appreciate that in this case you are advocating for the chicken but I'd like to say this sort of decision is very personal. If someone told me to cull my pet chicken who was suffering I would be hurt. The original poster is doing her best to do the right thing for her chicken.

Congratulations on her recovery! I definately agree with bluekote if you're going to introduce her to her flock mates. That will be a challenge since she has been away from them. Do it slowly and supervise. I had a chicken that my dogs attacked and had similar injuries so i know what you're going through. I spent time with her by wrapping her up in a towel and watching tv with her. She would cuddle and fall asleep. Keep us updated on how she's doing.
