Well, I have to write another essay for this class. This time it's an "Analogy" paper. That means I have to compare a SMALL geographic location ( in the form of a simile or metaphor) to another physical object. Pretty much comparing features of the geographic location to the features of the physical object.

700 words minimum, max 1200.

I was thinking of doing our farm, or the chicken coop. But I have NO IDEA what to compare the farm or chicken coop to?

Any ideas? Thanks for your help!!

Sorry, forgot to add, that it has to be a place that we have observed for a long period of time. So I have never been to Diamond Head....

Could you compare your coop to a city? The parallels are many in my mind, especially when you watch poultry politics!

Good luck

Could you compare your farm to something like an anthill, bee hive, or pond?

Maybe, I am very unsure of writing this essay in the first place, but that's all this class is, so it's a big part of my grade.

Since I can't focus my farm/chicken coop idea to an object, I was thinking of comparing my horse barn to the toy horse barns/horses I use to play with when I was little...

Ok, I'm a little confused, you say a small geographic location illustrated as a simile or a metaphor. A simile is a comparison using "like or as", The inside of the car was like a refrigerator, that is a simile. A metaphor is a comparison between two unlike objects or items that do actually have something in common using "is", such as Love is a rose, this implies love and a rose are both beautiful, or thorny depending on how you look at it.
Are you saying you can't use your coop, farm, chickens, etc, or you don't know how?
The coop was like an anthill as the chickens scattered looking for their scratch. Or: The coop is an anthill, busy, teeming, full of motion.
The town was quite as a cemetery, no one moving, no signs of life. Or: The town is a cemetery, dead after 5pm.
What exactly are you having trouble with?

I don't know how to apply my chicken coop or farm to the essay...

The thesis should state the hidden nature of the location in the form of a simile or metaphor that compares the location to another physical object.
