Need help ordering chicks. Update: Got em...Pics Added!

Just thought I'd add I keep mine in garage too. I open the garage door and windows during the day as well as turn a fan on and brooder light off. They are doing fine. Temps get around 90 during the hottest part of the day. I will add though that I recently had some picking, the chicks are 3 wks old now. I'm not sure if it may be due to the heat.

I'll be able to open windows and use a fan in addition to having the light off. I won't be able to open the door. My other option on hot days would be to move the brooder into the basement while the cats are outside. I would have to move it back into the garage for the night as the cats come in at dusk.

So cute, congratulations

Just thought I'd add that you should probably put some paper towels over the newspaper because the chicks could develop spraddle leg if they are left on a slippery surface such as newspaper.

Thanks!

I'll add some paper towel when I clean out the brooder.

The green stuff is gro gel. It is supposed to hydrate and provide nutrition to perk up the chicks. Seems like some people use it and some people don't, unless the chicks have had a long trip from the hatchery. I had some so I figured I'd give them a little. They seemed to like it pretty well. I only gave it to them the one time. I took it out after a few hours. It was getting a bit too messy.
