To All Who Have Replied Thank You,

We re going to re locate the two of the males to a friends lake and keep one male. that would give us 4 females and I male. Now the next question I have for you guys is what is the best way to catch this two males. I was thinking of having a large net by their food so I can drop it on them. I just have to figure out what type of netting to get so it wont harm them. does anyone have any other suggestions?

Where is their food located? Is it in a place where you could corner them and just pick them up? That's what I do with my Pekins when I look them over every so often. But I keep their food in the coop so it would be easier to do this then say if the food was just set up in the yard. If their food isn't in a place you could do this than maybe when they come onto land you can herd them to a place that is? However if they aren't used to being herded around try to stay between them and the water. More than one person would probably be easier for this. You could try the net but I've never used a net so I'm not sure if you would need anything special or not. Good luck!

I bought one of tose large fishing nests on a long pole at Dicks sproting goods, many years ago it was less than 10.00 back then. Best thing to do would be to herd them into a corner and catch them, you'd be surprised how fast a duck can move when trying to be caught, If you can get close enough one of thse large fishing nets that you throw my work it's risky they could hurt them selves though.

I think I read this from Majestic Waterfowl.

Get four or five friends to help.

You need some temporary fence, four feet high or so.

Set up a U-shaped temporary pen on the edge of the pond, with the ends of the U going into the water a few feet. The ends of the U are held by two people (one for each end).

If the pond is shallow enough, two or three people can wade, otherwise someone needs to be in a kayak or canoe.

Place some treats in the pen, just in case this attracts the ducks it might help.

Have the two people each holding an end of the U ready to close it behind the ducks.

Get the ducks between the kayak or waders, and the pen. The ducks will move away from the kayak. Slowly direct them into the pen. When they are on the land, have the fence holders close the fence behind them.

Then the ducks are in a much smaller area. Keep the area small so they cannot get a running start to jump the fence.

Perhaps this will spark an idea that will work in your situation.

I have 4 females and one drake we call Howard, have you ever seen Howard the duck movie? Anyway, I got three females last fall and I put them out in a large dog kennel when they were a month old, Howard tried every way in the world to get in the pen with them, at first the females were scared of him and ran to the other side of the kennel, Howard would run around and around the kennel, but after a month or more they didn't pay any attention to him, the girls are boss now, Howard hollers at them but they just walk on and do there own thing, it wasn't like that when I first introduced them, poor Howard chased those girls for hours and they acted like he was killing them when he did get a hold on them but they are a family now. If I pick one up Howard comes running to protect his female. Howard likes to mess with his females in the water and it does make me wonder how will they survive cause he always holds there head down, he tickles me when he is done he struts with his head down low like he would be saying "I'm the man"! But in the evenings now, every evening I call for my ducks and they go willingly in there kennel for safety. I lost a duck not putting them in shelter so I always do now. There has been a time or two I almost forgot to put them up and it would be dark and I would find them in there kennel. So all I had to do was shut the door. My ducks run free all day, there is a creek in my front yard and that is there favorite place to play.
