Need help please! My chickens toe is swollen and broken?

Iv have a turkey poult that broke his leg down near it foot , I didn't know what to do for it , it was at the time about 4 weeks old. I found some corner molding that I had scraps from remodeling my home put it over the break on both sides of the injure leg and put wire tightly around the molding than put black tape around the wire so the wire wouldn't injure the turkey . The splint has been on for 3 weeks , would anyone know how long should I have it on and or should I untighten it or take it off .

chickens are very good with feet injuries :)

I remember about 2 years ago the chicken in my profile picture, Nugget, jumped out of my hands when I was trying to put mite powder on her and landed badly and broke her toe, I picked her up to inspect it and she did the same thing again and broke the toe on her other foot! She couldn't walk at all for a couple of days so I had to bring food and water to her when she crawled around in the shade but within a week she was pretty much back to normal. I miss her though, I lost her earlier this year to a different problem :(

Aww sorry for your loss. I agree chickens seem to heal toe injuries/leg injuries quite well.
