Hi all,

This is my first time with hatching eggs and i have a few problems

1. I have a brooding hen and one of the chicks has hatched and now she is no longer sitting on the remaining eggs til night time. If I remove the chick will she sit back on the remaining eggs?

2. A second egg has been broken and the chick is alive but seems it is not ready yet what can I do to help. (I have attached a pic of the second chick)

If you have an incubator, you could pop the eggs in there.....And the newly hatched chick could go in there too....

Or, if you are a decently well-endowed gal, we put them in our bras.
Sports bras work best!

I don't have an incubator but i did put the chick in a towel and placed a heat pack under it. It has started to move and chirp a bit so only time will tell.

I will try my wife's bra to make it more comfortable.

Thanks

A heating pad will work too. You could put it in a bowl and put a light over it for heat. I have a friend that actually hatched some eggs in a bowl. Just some suggestions.

Thanks for all your suggestions but sadly the chick did not make it

Here's hoping the other unhatched eggs survive now that the mother is no longer sitting on them during the day
