I have a duck that was egg bound this morning I was able to message her and get the egg out but she still cannot walk or poop what could this be?? Thanks in advance

I've seen this in peafowl, chickens, and ducks, and I am not sure what causes it. Some people say it could be a pinched nerve, which it could be, but I think that low calcium can cause it too. In poultry it might be called "cage layer fatigue", and something similar happens in cattle and that's called milk fever.

"Pullets or hens with insufficient dietary calcium, phosphorus, or vitamin D3 may die suddenly or be found paralyzed from hypocalcemia while shelling an egg. This may be associated with high production and withdrawal of calcium from bones for egg shell production, in which case the main lesion may be osteoporosis."

It's can be pretty serious, so if she were mine I would give her some calcium citrate or calcium gluconate, and vitamin D3 orally, ASAP.

So this is a thread that someone started about their paralyzed eggbound peahen. It's a long thread, but you can see how she treated her hen and how the hen recovered. Sadly, one othe person in the thread had the same problem, but their bird dis not survive. :(

Edited to add:
Some of the quote are messed up from when we converted to the new software, but I am working on cleaning them up.

I have a duck 2.5 years old that is having trouble expelling her eggs. I've pulled them out of her, some are broken inside her, lots of black stuff coming out (I guess poop since the area was blocked). This last egg was really hard to get out. She is thin. I've increased the calcium but not sure what else to do for my poor Buffy.
