Need Help REAL QUICK!...

So.. just went out to play Easter Bunny.. and found that a stinkin' coon got into the barn last night and killed everything but 2 hens and a guinea!...

He just left them scattered in the pasture..

So, my ? is .. it was around 44 degrees last night.. they have probably been laying there for atleast 3 hours..

Ok to butcher them up?????

I know its not your question, but that doesn't sound like a coon. How many chickens? Not sure on the eating them part.

Well.. that was my next question!..

I decided not to eat them.. talked to a Veterinarian friend of mine. and he said it wouldn't be a good idea.

6 chickens! scattered everywhere.. nothing really wrong with them!..

What does it sound like to you????

Sounds like a dog having fun to me...that's what happened to me and it was a dog attack Sorry for your lose

Coon takes one and you don't know where it went... sounds like a dog.

A dog would be almost impossible..

It's all fenced in and 3 of the chickens roost atleast 10 foot up. No way a dog could have gotten up that high...????

Also.. They share the barn with 2 goats and a Donkey.. so if it were a dog, I would think they would've have thought to mess with them also.

I'm stumped!.. and sad!..
No more raising chickens in the barn!.. I thought the other goats and Donkey would scare off any predators.. was quite wrong!

Do you have coyotes? If they are not hungry they will also `play`like dogs and are pretty agile..i.e. can jump. So sorry to hear about your loss....what a thing to wake up to.
