I don't know how old it is, I adopted it. Is it old enough to tell if it's a male or female? Thanks for your help!

It is possible. I'll ask mom what other ducks are at the lake. It was found alone on a golf course by the grounds keeper with a puncture wound. It was very small then & he took care of it & healed. He asked my mom if she would take it since she feeds the ducks, he was afraid it would get injured if he released it at the pond. She told him I would take it. She's really adorable! I'm using a smaller mineral tub for the cows for her water pond & wow that got filthy fast! I remembered the filter we had for my sons turtle, since they have been moved to a bigger tank & a bigger filter. That filter cleared the water up in an hour & crystal clean! She loves it! I set her up in a side pen built for peafowl, with them shut out. I told them it's 100 degrees and I'm not building a duck setup til the fall so they can look at each other for a couple months. That will give me time to read on plans. I was hoping for a girl! The needle on a thread kept circling for a female. I appreciate your time! Thanks!

Your set up sounds fine. She can share home until its cooler! How lovely to have a filtered pool.

If she is a cross, she may lay eggs, but her eggs will be infertile.

Which state are you In?

Tx near Galveston. There's so many great ideas on here. I saw ones talking about a filter for the pond. I remembered the filter stuff I had stored. Thought I'd try it & I had an unused box of MarinePure Spheres they remove nitrates & Ammonia, they feel like Lava rock. That will be great to have infertile eggs. I picked up another duck at the store. My frizzle bantams have been keeping her company. It's a mystery duck, I'm hoping for a girl. If it doesn't work out I know some people that will take it to add to their group. I'm sure it's a few weeks younger and all brown. I don't want to breed them, just from what I've read they feel best in a group.

I think you have a gorgeous juvenile female.

Is there a possibility she is a cross with another kind of duck?
Mom said there are various ducks that have passed thru from time to time. There use to be some domesticated mallard looking ducks. Some Mexican ducks are usually out there & Egyptian geese pass thru but hasn't seen them in awhile.
