im sorry to say he passed away this morning.. i guess i didnt help him in time. but at least I have all the proper medication to prevent this from happening again.
Hi there, sorry to hear you lost him. Unfortunately many of the things that kill young Peas are found in your soil, Cocci, Black Head, and Worms can all be present in the soil. With Cocci it would probably be more unusual if it were not present than if it were. This tends to make using different pens for them useless, because there is generally soil under every pen and therefore exposure will occur no matter what pen they are in. A necropsy will give you a definitive answer as to what killed him, but even if he died of Cocci, you should still worm your birds because worms are everywhere as well. Sometimes it is best to just assume they are being exposed and treat preventatively no matter what. How old is your new hen?
