My eggs are due today, however they started hatching YESTERDAY. I only set three EE eggs. One hatched yesterday with no trouble. Pipped, then zipped all the way thru without stopping and out he came. The other two, one has a pip that looks more like a CRACK and it's on the very tip of the FAT END. It seems odd to me. The crack goes down the LONG way of the egg.... does that make sense? Almost like she's zipping vertically. I have not heard chirping from this egg, only the occasional wobble. Should I intervene? Try to help it zip right? How is it that y'all have done this? Wrap the egg in a damp papertowel and try and pry pieces of shell with tweezers?

Please advice, I really want all of them to make it and would hate it if this little fella pipped but didn't quite make it out.

TIA

Sorry I can't give you any experienced advice.
I usually see the hatching experts stating to never help, but lots of people do. You're call I think.

Good luck,

I would think it is too early to help. If the chick is still trying I wouldn't help. You can rush things and bleed the chick to death. Some experts that I've asked advice from do intervene, but only if the chick is truly exhausted, and even then they go very very slowly, keeping the area moist and stopping if they see any bleeding at all. If you choose to help, never pull on the umbilical cord if it is still attached to the chick.

Chicks can take days to hatch from pipping to fully hatched. It sounds very early to help in your case.
