Need help, sick chicken

Look carefully at the photo. There are two openings in a chicken throat. There's one in the center behind the tongue. That's the airway. You do NOT want to squirt any fluids into the center hole.

Then there's an opening on the chicken's right side of their throat. That is the esophagus which leads directly to the crop. By sliding the syringe into the right side of her beak and sliding right alongside the right side of the throat, the syringe will easily slip into the esophagus.

If she coughs and chokes, you have the syringe in the wrong hole. When you get the syringe into the esophagus, she will be quiet. Squirt the liquid slowly until two ounces are down into the crop.
