My prayers go out to YOU. We too lived throught the ice storm last year. It was scary to hear the trees snap in the dark and the flashes otf the transformers blowing....looked like lightning. The snap crack and pop of the trees started back up with the thaw. We weren't as bad off as Western KY but we were out of power for 8 frigid days. The next fool who talks about global warming to me will get my index finger in the eye! You look after you and your family first...and best of luck.

I did my best Scarlett O'hara when the power came back on stating to DH "I will never be cold again!" It is almost a phobia now....got all freaked out this evening when I watched Lex18 weather report....sad, just sad! Been in coveralls since Mid Nov I swear! Sad...just sad what I've become!

we have a wood burning stove, so we was alright with heat and we cooked in the stove as well, but didnt have any electric. so it was back to the good old days for us

Man....just makes me think about all our awfully old pine trees surrounding us. We plan to take them down next spring (about 30-40 trees). I can't stand pine trees... tall skinny, and good for nothing around here! Can't burn it in our wood stove, so we're hoping a tree company will want to mill it.

I'm so sorry for your situation! I'll be thinking about you!

It was 38* in the house with the wood burner cranking! Big house with tall ceilings! We retreated to the warm back room of our office with the 3 dogs, rambuncious kitten and a rabbit what a zoo! I still had to tend the wood burner and the horses and barn cats at home. We were exhausted! God bless the rural electric coop theory! I don't want to think about it any longer....starting to shiver at the thoughts!!! Going to get under the covers...Goodnight!
