Has anyone lost their chicken to prolapse? I had a three year old chicken, Easter egger. Noticed today she had an pretty bad prolapse.

My husband and I both tried to save her... but, unfortunately every time we gently pushed it back in, she started to gasp for air like something was crushing her breathing and started to vomit / pass out. We revived her one time but the next time, after calming her down and relaxing her.. she did not make it and she acted like she was suffering.

Felt down below after she had passed and it seemed to be swollen near her lower region and after inspecting the eggs I’ve gotten recently in my fridge..
I have not gotten any eggs from her in the last week or so.
starting to wonder if she had an egg bound issue...? I have had egg bound chickens before where I had to cull her as she was suffering.

I am going to check all my hens tomorrow because now I’m rather nervous / scared, haha. As today I only got three eggs when I have many hens.

Any suggestions or tips? I’m really heartbroken and love my chickens to death. I feel like I screwed something up and perhaps I should get more calcium for them? I am so sad and I just want to make things right if I messed up somehow.

Thank you

eggbound? i dunno.....

That's what I said above but is that 100%??
I feel like it's my fault. And I caused it??

I dont know if I messed up trying to save her. she was extremely reactive when even touching the area and trying to figure anything out...
