We dove in head first gonna raise chickens for eggs. Built our chicken coop and yard. Headed over to TSC for a few chicks....We bought 3 pullets from TSC that they call Commercial Blacks and 3 red sex links. Later we researched a little to try to find out just what a commercial black is with no real good results....Today we went back to TSC to see if we could get clarification on ID of these...the guy working with the chicks told us they prolly was black australorp. Here are some pics of these we have...

They are Barred Rocks. No doubt. I have a barred rock hen from tractor supply and she turned out to be a great, beautiful hen. Nice coop. Very pretty. Good luck!

They probably put Barred Rocks, Black Sex Links, and Black Australorps in a bin together and call them production blacks for the ease of naming. I know they do that with production reds (New Hampshires, RIR, and RSL all in the same bin). TSC employees often have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to any kind of livestock

TSC sells a lot of birds, but in all the ones I have been to I have yet to meet any employees that have more than the knowledge of "yep that's a chicken!" I'm sure there are some out the, but they are few and far between. And I live I a very farming oriented community.

Here is a new picture of the TSC chicks. They seem to be growing much faster than the red sexlinks.
