Need help, too bizzare to be made up

Thank you. NONE of what any of you have done has been taken as offensive to me, not sure what anyone said or did that could be??

Sideline to story, local realtor stopped by yesterday to do his "christian" duty and offered Mom $60,000 if she would leave Dad's tools behind. Dad was a mechanic (won highest awards Ford/Chevy could give when he worked for them, last 20 years went independent) and took up woodworking on retirement plus he has full set of yard/garden equipment. Too bizarre to make up isn't it.

Century 21 agent called up saying he might have time to help MOM sell the house for his commission. TOO FUNNY....

seedcorn - I PM'd you. Some of these realtors are swooping down like vultures, which they have no business doing with the loss of your dad only last week. Please take your time. "christian" duty, my a55. Sorry, that wasn't very christian of me!

I am so very sorry about your dad.

I am a realtor in southern KY, and I find the practice of preying on the bereaved distasteful.
I am sorry about your dad. My prayers are with your family.
Contrary to what some think there are good Christian realtors out there, I try to be one. It is hard in this business when there are so many bad realtors out there.
I agree you should have your mom take her time. There is no need to rush.
PM me if needed, maybe I can refer you to a good realtor in that area when the time is right.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. I'm also sorry to hear that there is scum out there who would take advantage of the situation. Take a deep breath, take your time and don't rush selling the house for far less than it's worth.

What makes it more bizarre is that 4 weeks ago, I called them 3-4 times to get them to list it, they were all too busy. One wanted $1500 up front to even consider it. They showed up to talk to Mom AFTER I left. I'd give it to gang bangers in Detroit to visit the "good Christian" people before I'd sell it to one of those "good Christian" realtors. God will deal with these "Christians" using Jesus as their licence to steal.

There are a lot of good people helping Mom get through this, it's just the local preachers and realtors are all servants of Satan. Their lives show who they serve.

Wow - amazing that they wanted money up front ot consider it! Good grief.
Anybody too busy to list it is going to be too busy to properly market it.
Any realtor should be providing your mom with a written list of all the things they promise will be done for her as far as marketing...and they should provide her with an analysis of comparable properties that have SOLD so she can see what the proper price point would be......

Some of us realtors do have morals. Most don't, I will admit. But to ask for money upfront is outrageous! We never see anything at our firm until the close table.
But let me tell you...when my g-mom died, I went to the funeral home to support my mom w' the details...low and behold one of the biggest snakes(realtor, and I use that term loosely) in town was already there. He asked me what I was doing there... I firmly told him that this was my family and I had a right to be there, he didn't! Needless to say, he left. But they don't even wait for the body to cool before they start to circle like buzzards! It's very tacky on their part. But they don't have scruples anyway.
We aren't a franchise... we are independents. I would never work for a franchise, they are too cut throat. Maybe you can find one that isn't associated w'a franchise, (I'm assuming that you were dealing w'one.) Whatever you decide I wish you the best.

Im sorry that you lost your father.

I'd appreciate all the prayers today as we have a couple driving down from IN to look at the house. He says it's exactly what they want. I pray that it is and I'd appreciate your prayers that it is as well.
