My chickens just turned a year old. I was getting 15-20 eggs per day and now I am lucky to get 5. I have noticed a lot of feathers in their coop, but thought it is too early for them to be molting? Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks

Sounds like they are molting. Mine have just about finished molting. At one point, I was only getting 4 eggs a day and those were from my pullets (who wont molt this year) 6 weeks later and I am getting 9 eggs a day (12 layers total).

My present crew turned 1 in April. The Welsummers started molting in August which wasn't even a year since they started. Worst chickens I've ever had in 20 years or maybe it's the crappy weather we have had this year. Light is also important at this time of year if you are so inclined.
