need help washing quail eggs to incubate?

yea my coop gets cleaned once a week, mainly just swap out old chips/sand and put new in, only problem spot is the hole from inside to outside, they kick wood shavings into the open harware cloth covered part, doesn't really fall thru that good lol

I have heard sandpaper works well. Gets the muck off without removing too much of the bloom if you only focus on worst areas. I try not to incubate eggs that are that dirty cause I like to leave the bloom intact

Depends on the living quarters. Mine are on 1/2" hardware cloth, and poop usually just goes on through. But, yy the time I get home in the evening to gather the eggs, several somebodys forgot to look behind them when nature called, and decorated the egg with poop. What I found out that really gets them messy is when you keep sand in the pen, by them ingesting it........it makes for some really nasty eggs IF they are layed other than in the sand box.............kinda like the scours.
