Need HELP with 5-day old chick and stuck poop!

Yesterday, I found a dried clod of poop on the backside of one of my chicks. When I was washing it off with warm water I noticed that the vent was clear, so it doesn't appear to be a case of pasting up.

Today I found another chick with the same thing. Poop stuck to his butt, but not "clogging" the vent. What's going on?

They seem to be acting normal.

It still may be pasty butt. Keep cleaning it off. SOmetimes my babies just get poop on their backsides. THe other babies try to peck at it. EWWWWWW!!!

Sometimes they miss and everything goes downhill from there. Just keep cleaning it until they get older.

here is what to do
buy sack of childrens play school sand at the lumber yard
then make this mix
1 gallon of crumbles
1 cup of the playschoo; sand
mix good and fee till you don't see any more pasty manure

also do you have the heat level okay for the age of the chick
first week 96 degrees
every week after that down 5 degrees
with ventilation
NO drafts just fresh air coming into the brooder
