Need help with a Bully!!!*****Update*****

No, the bully gets no contact with the rest of the flock. My Maggie (the only bantam in the flock) screams whenever she sees Lilith. Dunno why, but so far she hasn't hurt Lilith. She just chases her.

I say don't let her free range while in chicken jail. It is pretty common for them to pick on just one or a select few. Good luck and let us know if the time out works. It has worked well for me.

I have a little SS that was always getting picked on so I put her in a large cage inside the coop to keep her safe, since then I have put my little Alma in with her and the are the best of friends, still Im looking forward to to time that I can let them out with the other birds.

Well, yesterday was balmy here (50 degrees) so I let the girls free range and took my poor Nellie out of her crate and put her "near" the other five hens. The minute they saw her all of them went into attack mode and I had to get a switch and beat them off her. For the next 2 hours I stood guard so she could free range in peace! I guess I'll have to either find her a new home where I hope she'll be accepted or cull her which doesn't appeal to me as I've kinda gotten attached to her. Does anyone have any other suggestions! This is so disappointing!

I put my bully in chicken jail today and she wasn't happy about it at all. I don't know if I can do this for a week. It was hard to see her all alone but I guess its better than the alternative of sending her to a new home or worse to the freezer!

She can still see the other girls from where our other coop is. Is that bad?

No, it's not bad. As long as she can't interact with them to the point of bulling somebody while in jail.
If she gets really stressed out about being in jail, you can try darkening her jail by putting a towel or blanket over it to keep her calm.
You're right, it's better than the alternative.
Good luck to you.

I put an 8week-old bully in time out. When time out was over, I fed them cooked chicken innards. Then I warned the bully if he didn't straighten out, he would be the next one fed to the flock. I didn't have more trouble from him in the next 1 or 2 weeks before I re-homed all the roos.

I vote for time out and peepers. I don't think verbal threats really help at all, but it makes me feel better.

I have a bully. Mae West. She is a bully to the rest of the girls, but she actually sticks up for Cinderella who is at the bottom of the pecking order. Mae and Cinder were introduced to the flock together. I can't be out there all the time but if anybody acts up while I'm out doing chicken chores or giving treats, I take off my slip on shoe and throw it at them. I don't actually hit them, just send them flying.
