Hi all. I have a call duckling i have been candling the last few days that I swore was dead. Everyone has pipped and started hatching and this guy has done nothing, no movement for days. So tonight i decided to crack it to see what was going on. I broke it around the air sack and saw the baby is actually alive, but appears to be upside down. I have no idea what to do to help this little guy. I know if I do nothing he will sufficate, but finding his bill will be tough. Can I remove the shell around the entire membrane to find it? If I do that, what then? This guy is obviously going to die if I do nothing, but I am afraid whatever I do will kill him, so anyone who has done this before, please chime in.

Upside down so you can see that the yolk is absorbed, right? Or not?

Look around the rest of the shell for a 'bruise' spot... might be trying to pip the other end...

I've had many a Call egg I was sure were goners hatch, and some were goners... I've learned to not give up too soon...
