I bought 19 cornish rock broilers from a local feed store about a month ago. Last week I found one of them dead. I am noticing lots of diarrhea and one bird had a bloody vent. I went to the hatchery's website and they said not to use medicated feed. They are currently eating meatbird feed. What should I do?

Sorry for your troubles Bucky. I think some more information might be helpful. Can you post a pic of their backside and maybe of the poop? The broilers usually have very runny poop on a good day because they process the food so quickly. Also it's very important to limit their feed, these birds will eat themselves to death (unless you raise them like Beekissed, another member who free ranges them with great success). The usual protocol is to let them have free access to feed for twelve hours and then remove the feed for the other twelve hours. What are they housed in?

Try looking at this - I've never had it, but next time you have an emergency like this, put your symptoms in the Search area above and you may get some faster help. That's how I found this link. I'm not sure this is what you're dealing with, but it sounds like it and you need to start somewhere and start NOW.
