Hi there,

I have a standard Cochin hen that has presented with labored breathing. I took her to the vet, whi told me to administer 40mg of tetracycline for 4 days.

I was able to pick up 250mg capsules from Tractor Supply, and cut and measured for the 40mg dose. The trouble I am having, however, is that I cannot get her to eat the pill, even mixed with her favorite foods.

I am now turning toward adding it to her one gallon waterer. She is drinking readily. I simply cannot compute how much of the medicine to mix into the water to ensure she is getting somewhere near 40mg as prescribed. Can anyone help? Thank you!

I found this online; hope it helps. To use this you'll need to open the capsules to get the powder form. 0.25 tsp = 1 g.
