Need help with Duck Coop....

I agree I think ducks are dumb sometimes but thats what's so endearing about them. You gotta love em. I don't think any one was offended or shouldn't of been because you could tell it was said in a loving way.

All right well that's good to know :D Those are very crazy, lucky, and smart birds you have there :) And thank you all for the duck coop ideas. Have a happy summer!

I'm working on mine. It's Quacker Shack. Pond problems atm. :( I've 40 acres so I have plenty of room to build whatever I want and expand in the future.

Wow! That sounds awesome! And 40 acres? I only have 6! haha :P Good luck with your coop building and keep me updated on it :)

Ducks seem rather intelligent to me. They very quickly figure out what I expect them to do.

Then, they do the opposiite.

Mine also know they are delicious which is why I have not been able to touch mine since they were hatchlings.

Ducks are just routine animals, so if that gets messed up they act stupid... mine know where to go at night, that includes the 9 youngest...

I know for me the biggest thing with the duck barn was being able to stand up, since we mainly stay cold and so forth i wanted to be able to get in the barn easily, i do think there are variables, how many ducks, how big, climate.. whether they free range etc

I had Muscovy ducks when I was in high school. I also used a kiddie pool. It was a snap to clean.. just tip it over, spray it out and refill it. LOL

We had a small 3 x 3 duck house that my father built from some old plywood. We used a metal awning for the roof. That made it easy to clean, I just rolled up the awning and the back wall was actually split in half and hinged on each end to form 2 doors. I just opened the back and sprayed it out.

Hope that helps.

Hey everyone!

I am in the process of building our duck coop as well. I'm in FL so we are pretty humid year round. I'm not sure where to place the coop; shaded most of the day with morning sun or full sun? I have 2 pekin ducklings.

Shade! I am in VA. I have my Quackmire Downs under pine trees. I have never had a regret. My ducks and chickens pant in the heat, but I have never had a complaint about cold.
