Need help with gender of Marans!!

Yes I called and she said she wouldn’t have any chicks for a couple weeks but doesn’t want the roos so now I’m stuck finding them homes

Yes she said she would replace each roo I have, I paid $40 for 6 of them I don’t know if that’s a good price or not but I really wanted Black Copper Marans and she was the closest breeder to me

$40 for 6 BCM is a good rate. They can be spendy. (I've spent $5 per hatching egg, and seen them as much as $10 per hatching egg!)

And I agree....2 and 6 are pullets...don't worry about 6...that is a pullet. Marans girls can get some precocious combs, but they remain yellow.

However Marans boys telecast early. Pink-red, large comb at their apparent ages (what 2 to 4 weeks?) means rooster.

And don't despair on BCM roosters. Keep the nicest looking one, and very likely you can place the others. I even was able to sell my BCM extra...mind you it was from a good line, and that breeder had gone out of business.

Thank you!! I think we’re going to keep one and place the rest at a nearby farm that said they would be willing to take them, the breeder said they were from a good line but I had to call and tell her she sexted the chicks wrong and 4 out of 6 are roosters she was surprised. I guess I’ll buy my next hatch from a hatchery so I know for sure I’ll be guaranteed more then 2 hens
