Hi so here's my story:
I have three hens and a big roo in my flock, and I decided to add more hens. A local farm down the street had some regular hens and some banti hens and one banti roo. So I took seven of them. The new flock is very mellow and calm. The roo has not showen any agression.
I added the new birds at night and in the morning let them all free range together. There was some aggression from the old flock but it was day one and I expected that. We are now on day three and I've noticed my roo seems to hate the banties. He chases them and attackes them whenever he can. I'm not sure he realizes there hens and not young adults that arnt fully grown. The new roo runs and flyes to get into trees and bushes to get away from my old roo. The new flock in general seems to be fearfull of the old birds so I'm stumped on why my roo sees them as a threat.
I would love some opinions on the matter and what the next step should be. I'm willing to find a new home for my old roo, he is agressive and if he keeps acting like this then I'm afraid he won't work out in my flock. Thanks for reading!!!
