Need help with my PVC feeder - Chickens throwing food on ground.

Okay, that sounds like a plan to me...little to no waste, sign me up! Do you have detailed plans/material list?

4" sdr sewer pipe(cheaper than schedule 40), 45 wye, and 2 4" caps(1 for the bottom and one for the top lid. Cut a small piece of pipe for the bottom and attach on cap, I didn't glue mine so I can clean it out. Make the feeder tube as tall as you want, fill with food, place top cap, and attach feeder with a strap to a wall or fence where desired. I also cut a small piece of pipe and put it in the wye so I can cover the food with another cap at night to keep rodents from getting in and eating the food. Search the forums, there are several of these feeders floating around. Have fun.

Sorry it took me a while to get back, haven't been on the forum for a while. Here are a couple of quick shots. Not the best, but should give you and idea.

Nice pictures. What do you do to keep the rain/snow out?

Thank you.

Mikeharold - thanks for the pics

Mark1 - cool idea with the drain cap.

Has anybody ever made a small one of these that would go inside a small coop? I have a coop which is raised off the ground and would prefer to have the feed indoors. Could I make a small one that may be able to be removed to be refilled? I don't want something inside that takes up a lot of space. Need ideas for mounting something like this that could be removed and replaced often. For some reason, I don't want to make a hole in my new coop. What if I decide not to feed indoors?

Maybe I should give up on the indoor feeding idea?
