I'm new to chickens and need help with one. Here is my 14 week old chicken. She doesn't have spurs and I haven't heard her crowing. She is bigger than my other (she's in the background) and her tail has started to get a little longer. Two days ago I noticed her feathers were a little shiny, but not very off from my other hen. Is she a roosters? My other hen seems to be developing a little slower and she too has two feathers on her tail that are a little longer. They both make the same bawk noise, which I hope is a good thing. They jumped at each other a lot when they were younger, but now I only see them do it maybe once a week. I heard that rhode island red roosters are aggressive and this chicken doesn't seem to be. She follows me around the yard and lets me carry her around.
The truth is, I live in the city limits which roosters are not permitted and I've grown very attached to her. Right now I'm in denial and hope someone out there can help me. Thank you!
