It's supposed to be bad luck to change a horse's name, but I couldn't be stuck with a horse named 'Autumn' so we renamed her

How about Alamo?

I do like Alamo and that one is on my list. My husband is not Texan (but I still love him anyway) and he thinks my idea of naming him for something in my home state is dumb. I don't much care. As far as the horse knowing his name, I really don't think he does. He's been called something different by the many people who have taken care of him. (His previous person didn't do right by him as far as giving him her attention.) The ones I know are Pico, Pecos, Petey, and Casa. That's in addition to Little Boy and Sweetheart.

I like a lot of the names y'all are coming up with. Thanks for the help!

Alamo is cute!

What about Dalton, Dustin, Gunner, Austin, Stetson, Brooks, Garth, Wyatt, Garrett...

I looked up names of cities in texas and there were some that would make great names.

Barrett, Bayton, Blanco (which is also "white" in spanish), Booker, Canton, Cisco, Clyde, Cooper, Dallas, Dodge, Elderado, Flint, Hardin, Hewitt...

There are so many! Here's the link I was looking at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_Texas

My
family is big into naming our horses after cities. We have a Cheyenne and a Sedona.

I'm usually pretty original when it comes to barn names - I like to use part of the registered name or come up with something that sounds somewhat related to the registered name...

He sure is a handsome guy!

I do like Toby

Other Suggestions:
- Cas (Cass)
- Pico (pronounced "pee-coe")
- Cody
- Trip
- Arty (Artie)
- Lasso

I like Pico. It's close to Pete, goes with his registered name and it's a spanish word which seems appropriate for Texas.

I like Karlos. For a name I mean .Wonder why? It seems real spanish.Call him see if he answers.

So, I tried out a bunch of the names y'all suggested for my horse. He's a little goofy so the more elegant names just didn't seem to fit him. I tried Alamo several times because I really want to name him something that will evoke images of my home state. However, it didn't work either. The only one that is working is the one he came with...Toby! Guess whoever it was that said changing a horse's name was bad luck was right and Toby was trying to tell me that. Anyway, thanks for all the help. I'll keep the list of names for when I get my pygmy goats!
